The Associate of Science (AS) degree is designed for students
intending to transfer to a four-year college or university to pursue a higher degree in a scientific or mathematical discipline. The AS program is designed to help
you use the methods of observation, special analysis, and
logic in order to understand the mathematical, biological, and
physical nature of the world by providing study in
mathematics, biology, chemistry, geology, astronomy, and
physics. The degree is designed to help you appreciate the
natural laws of the earth you walk on and the universe you live
in.
You can complete two years of study toward a bachelor’s degree and satisfy the requirements for an Associate of Science (see chart below). Please also refer to college-wide graduation requirements for the AS degree.
In addition to the general AS degree, GBC offers specific patterns
of study appropriate for pursuing a a degree in Agriculture or Engineering.
You should always determine the program requirements of your future college or university when you are planning your schedule. In addition, you will want to be familiar with Transferring Credits from GBC and consult with GBC's transfer advisers in the Advising and Career Center.
