We are pleased to announce remodel of the existing community center and the creation of the Center for Student Leadership. This remodel has come to life as a result of a gracious planned gift.
The Center for Student Leadership will provide office facilities and infrastructure for the support of student government, student clubs and student organizations. It will also provide venues for entertainment, recreation and group study. Part of the project includes the remodeling of the College cafeteria, creating a coffee house atmosphere and a social center for the student body.
In recent years student life opportunities have grown with vigor. The college recently opened residence halls and this new resident population depends on the activities generated by the variety of programs sponsored by the Student Government Association (SGA), clubs and organizations.
Leading students to the completion of their degree and preparing them for a vital role in their community is the goal of everyone in higher education. Great Basin College does it better than most, with an Associate degree graduation rate higher than any other community college in Nevada, and higher than the average of all community colleges in the Western United States.
Student leaders at Great Basin College have outgrown the home carved for them in the existing space on campus. The College is committed to the development of the Center for Student Leadership. The Center will house state of the art facilities that will help ensure the success of even more Great Basin College students.
We know your commitment to higher education, and your commitment to the democratic access to higher education that is provided to Nevadans by schools like Great Basin College. For giving and naming opportunties please contact John Patrick Rice at 775/753.2260.

The future… Great Basin College envisions a Center for Student Leadership that will serve as a hub for our students. Its programs will be innovative… they are designed to do two things: to assist students in the timely completion of their degree, and to prepare them to be powerful leaders in their communities when they graduate. Check out our case for support.
Community Center, Present Day
The present… Great Basin College Foundation agrees the work achieved thus far is exceptional, especially when one considers that student leaders have been asked to “accomplish more with less,” a mandate often made to community colleges. The Student Government Association, student clubs and organizations now share a small and un-secured space. Their creative minds have also carved out a small “lounge” in a busy intersection of the existing community center. Student leaders have shown considerable initiative over the years, and it is time to match their facilities with their energies…

The past…. An example of the work the Center has accomplished is the creation of the college’s Programming Board, a consortium of student groups committed to coordinating student activities… |
