GBC Career and Technical Education College Credit and Newmont Offer Mining Rocks Tour

Join the “Mining Rocks” tour 8 a.m. – 2:30 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 26 to explore the careers and Great Basin College programs available to become a part of Nevada's mining industry.

GBC CTE College Credit Program, in collaboration with Newmont, will be offering an opportunity to tour Twin Creeks’ mine site and learn about the different careers & educational opportunities available in mining. The variety of careers and programs discussed on the tours will include: electrical systems technology, diesel technology, welding technology, mining, engineering, natural resources, earth sciences, office technology, human resources, and business administration.

This opportunity is open to 70 participants. Interested high school students who want to participate will have first priority. Existing GBC students and community members who are interested in attending GBC are also encouraged to apply. All interested parties must complete the Mining Rocks Application available at www.gbcnv.edu/cte/events.html.

Participants will meet at Lowry High School at 8 a.m. Lunch will be provided.
