Great Basin College Theatre has begun rehearsals for its holiday production, A Little House Christmas. Based on the beloved books by Laura Ingalls Wilder, the story is a simple telling of a Christmas long ago.
Performances will run Dec. 8-11 at 7 p.m., and a twigh-light matinee on Friday, Dec. 11 at 4 p.m. General admission is $5.
Adapted for the stage by James DeVita, A Little House Christmas centers on the Ingalls family and their friends in the days leading up to Christmas.
A storm on Christmas Eve prompts the children to examine the true meaning of Christmas, considering the simple things: love and duty, work and rest and living close to nature.
GBC Theatre Program Director John Patrick Rice looks forward to the production. “It is a simple story about a simple time with great relevance to our own often too-busy lives. The student actors are very excited to present this play as a holiday gift to the community.”
The play will feature some familiar GBC Theatre Company members including Laura Jund as Ma Ingalls, Tyler Brown as Pa Ingalls, and Benjamin Jensen as Mr. Edwards. Emily Elkins will play Laura Ingalls, Kassidy Goddard as Mary Ingalls, Rosalynn Eardley as Mrs. Oleson, and Meghan Jonas as Nellie. Thomas Stafford, Cameron Eden and Jacob Wood round out the family and friends.
An ensemble of singers and townsfolk includes Lane Dolberg, A.J. Savingnac, Anthony Jensen, Kodi Goddard, Cody Bates, Kim Shillington, Olivia Rice and Belinda Green.
