Nichole De La Cruz

  • Degree: Associate of Applied Science in Business Administration, Certificate of Achievement in Human Resources, General Business and currently pursuing Bachelor of Applied Science in Graphics Communication
  • Work: Newmont, Computer Based Training Developer and Analyst
  • How did your degree program at GBC prepare you for what you do today at Newmont?: My degree and certificates have provided me with a great foundation of how businesses manage operations, productivity, and people. My current courses are providing me with the knowledge I need in the form of graphics design requirements and best practices, as well as web compliance for the eLearning content I currently develop.
  • What are the characteristics of GBC and the GBC's degree programs that led you to choose GBC?: GBC allows me to take most of my courses online and manage both my full time job at Newmont and being a mom. Last year I was accepted to UNLV, however, GBC brought in the new Bachelors program for Graphics Communication and that is really where my passion and my career development lie.

  • Degree: Bachelors of Applied Science in Management in Technology ‘15
  • Work: Wells Fargo, Affluent Banker
  • Why was GBC right for you?: GBC was the perfect school for me because it had the specific business degree I was looking for and gave me the flexibility through their online classes to work a full time job.
  • What was your motivation to attend college?: I knew that having a bachelor degree opens new opportunities when searching for the right career and that’s what I was looking for. I also wanted to be able to show my three sons that education is very important to have, and with my diploma I’ll be able to do that when they are older. Finishing college is one of my greatest accomplishments.

Natacia Eldridge

  • Degree: Associate of Applied Science in Business Administration and Bachelor of Applied Science in Management in Technology ‘14
  • Work: Newmont, External Relations Representative • How did your degree program at GBC prepare you for what you do today at Newmont?: I had always wanted to work in the marketing and communications fields, therefore the BAS in Management in Technology degree was perfect for me because it focused on those skills, and in addition it also focused on managerial skills, workplace management practices, and strategic planning.
  • What are the characteristics of GBC and the GBC's degree programs that led you to choose GBC?: While completing my degree, I worked at Newmont full time as a business assistant. I graduated college with no student loans because the education at GBC is reasonable enough, that with the help of my parents and Newmont’s tuition assistance program, I was able to pay up front each semester. In the spring of 2014, I graduated from GBC, and in that same week, I found out that I received an internal job I had applied for in the External Relations Department working as the External Relations Representative for Newmont with the primary responsibility of external communications with an emphasis on regional print, social media, and external advertising campaigns. I ended up in the exact career field I had set my sights on long ago. I am extremely fortunate to be able to go to work and not only utilize my education, but to have a job I truly enjoy. I owe that in large part to Great Basin College.
