Mission Statement: The mission of Continuing Education is to provide lifelong learning opportunities for residents in GBC communities through diverse educational, social, cultural, and workforce development courses, activities, and programs.
GOALS
1.  Goal: To produce quality short-term, flexible, credit and non-credit courses which meet the current needs of students, employers, and community members (Theme 2)
  OBJECTIVES
  1.1  Objective: To obtain funding for a full-time assistant dedicated solely to the Continuing Education department and add a programming assistant to expand workforce and professional development courses and develop new programs at GBC.

    4.1.3  Task: Utilize student worker to put up flyers in businesses and around campus, create flyers, stuff envelopes for special mailings. Get extra student worker at high-volume times of year especially Kids College and Native Youth Camp.

    4.1.5  Task: Improve course listings in GBC Fall & Spring Schedules by cross-listing courses under dept. headings in addtion to Community Education section. Utilize box adds and "call-outs" for special announcements.

    4.1.6  Task: Develop a stand-alone Continuing Education Community Education Schedule instead of only listing classes in the GBC Spring and Fall Schedules.

    4.1.8  Task: Oversee "Community" Website that webmaster Susanna Dorr developed to advertise community eduation courses on GBC website. Advertise the website on new Community Education schedule and remind campus directors and their assistants to use it and tell others about it. Attach photographs, syllabi, and other information to the community ed course descriptions.

    4.1.11  Task: To implement a more customer-friendly registration system for community education courses. Students currently must apply for admission to Great Basin College and then register using PeopleSoft. PeopleSoft is a complicated system that does not easily accomodate courses that start and stop at dates different from those of the traditional semester. Once the new registration system is implemented, it will mean a greater amount of oversight of student payments.
