Mission Statement: The mission of Recruitment is to recruit prospective students by providing information about Great Basin College and informing them of the academic and personal opportunities attributed to a higher education.

    2.1.4  Task: Re-establish Transition Tuesdays, so prospective students can become more familiar with the Elko campus, programs, student life, student housing, and resources that are available to them. The main goal is to have current GBC students facilitate Transition Tuesdays because they will be able to relate better to the younger, in-coming students; along with provide an up-beat, insightful perspective of college life that prospective students will find interesting.

    2.1.5  Task: Work in conjunction with the Student Financial Services Deparment and high schools within our service area to provide either FAFSA Days or Financial Aid Nights for high school seniors and their parents to promote Financial Aid literacy.

  2.2  Objective: Re-name the Student Ambassador Program to Student Success Coaching. Student Success Coaches will accompany and assist the Recruitment Coordinator to administer the placement test, classroom visits, and local college and career fairs. Also, the Student Success Coaches will be GBC representatives that will act in a professional manner, contact prospective students, and provide campus tours. All of which will help the prospective students make a smooth transition from high school to college. (2011-2015)

    2.2.1  Task: Establish the Student Success Coaching program. These students will assist with campus tours, events, and other on campus activities. Along with accompanying the Recruitment Coordinator to community fairs and events.

    2.2.2  Task: In some instances the Student Success Coaches will be going on the road with the Recruitment Coordinator or other GBC representatives for school visits, fairs, conferences, etc. The students will need to complete and submit the necessary travel forms in advance in order to receive 100% of the per diem. The forms will consist of Travel Request Authorization, Travel Estimiate Worksheet, and Travel Claims. The majority of the traveling will be for day trips.
