College Representatives:

 

Lisa Campbell, Faculty Senate

Lisa Campbell is the Winnemucca Center Director for Great Basin College. She is the administrator for college operations in Humboldt County and is responsible for course offerings, student support services and facilities management. She has been employed with NSHE since 1994.

 

Janae Johnson, Student Representation

Janae Johnson is currently working on her BIAS-SS with an emphasis in Political Science. She has been in the Student Government Association for 4 years. This year she was promoted to the Secretary position. In 2010 she attended the NEW Leadership program for woman held in Las Vegas. She has learned several leadership skills from NEWL and SGA.

 

Carmen Matlock, Staff Employee Council

Carmen Matlock is an administrative assistant for the Continuing Education Department for Great Basin College. She is currently serving as the Classified Council Co-Chair.

 

Mike McFarlane, Administrator

Mike McFarlane has been the Vice President for Academic Affairs at GBC since 2004. Previously, since 1983, he was a member of the GBC faculty as a professor in the physical sciences, primarily in geology and related disciplines. He began his professional career as a geologist in the mining industry.

 

Brett Murphy, Administrator

Bret Murphy is the Dean of Applied Science at Great Basin College. Murphy has served the college for 27 years, and has oversight of the Business, Computer Technology, and Career and Technical Education Departments.

 

Sarah Negrete, Faculty Senate

Sarah Negrete is the GBC Faculty Senate chair.

 

Lynne Owens, Faculty Senate

Lynne Owens is a GBC Math professor and has been with GBC for 14 years. She has been a member of the math department at Great Basin College for 14 years. Prior to GBC Lynne taught in Barrow Alaska at a branch campus of the University of Alaska Fairbanks.

 

Sonja Sibert, Affirmative Action

Sonja Sibert is Great Basin College's Chief Business Officer and Affirmative Action Officer. Sibert oversees the areas of Finance & Budget, Human Resources, and Buildings & Grounds. Sibert also plays key roles in the iNtegrate and iNtegrate2 projects.

 

Mary Swetich, Administrator

Mary Swetich is the Director at GBC's Ely Center and also serves in the capacity of academic advisor as well as a member of college-wide committees.

 

Linda Uhlenkott, Faculty Senate

Linda Uhlenkott is a community college professor in the department of English. Her main teaching areas are freshman composition and professional communication. She is a past chair of Faculty Senate and has been at GBC since 2001.

 

Norm Whittaker, Faculty Senate

Norm Whittaker is an Industrial Millwright Technology instructor at GBC and currently serves as the Budget and Facilities Committee Chair. He is past chair of the Career and Technical Education Division. He worked for Barrick Goldstrike Mines, Inc. for 18 years in the process department and held various management positions. He holds a U.S. Patent.

 

Community Representatives:

 

Kerry Aguirre, Community Member

Kerry Aguirre is the director of business development and community relations at Northeastern Nevada Regional Hospital. Aguirre is an active Rotarian, former board member for several community non-profits and is past director of the United Way of the Great Basin. She holds master’s and undergraduate degrees in business administration from the University.


Mike Cosgrove, Community Member

Mike Cosgrove serves on the Pahrump Advisory Board and the GBC Advisory Board. He serves as chairman of the Rural Nevada Development Corporation representing Nye County.

Rena Hanks, Community Member

Rena Hanks is Faculty Emeritus from the University of Nevada and owns a productivity consulting firm. She serves on the Board of Directors for the Elko Area Chamber of Commerce, is a member of the Elko Area Leadership Institute Steering Committee and the Government Affairs Committee for the Chamber.


Bob A. Heguy, Community Member

Bob A. Heguy has been a resident of Elko County for all his life. He is a graduate of the University of Nevada, Reno with a bachelor's in Accounting and Finance and Great Basin College with associate degrees in Arts and Applied Science. He has been employed for 31 years with Kafoury, Armstrong & Co. maintains a large tax practice in Elko.


Anne McMullen, Community Member

Anne McMullen is a co-owner of ISU McMullen Insurance in Elko, NV. She has been a licensed insurance agent for over 30 years and specializes in administration of group benefits. She earned a Bachelor of Arts in Journalism from UNR in 1976.


Don Miller, Community Member

Don Miller is a retired business man and currently serves as the Chairman of the GBC Advisory Board. He has a Liberal Arts degree from the University of Utah.


Dave Roden, Community Member

Dave Roden graduated 1969, BS Restaurant Management -Kansas State University, and has spent 40 years in the banking industry. Dave has been on the GBC Advisory Board for many years and is a Foundation Trustee.


James Q. Winer, Community Member

James Q. Winer graduate in 1989 from the University of Wyoming, with a bachelor of science from the College of Business and Industry. He serves as chairman of the GBC Foundation Board of Trustees. He is a Broker/Owner with Coldwell Banker Alegerio/Q-Team Reality and Owner/Developer with J. Quaid Investments. He is Past President of the Elko Chamber of Commerce, Elko County Association of Realtors and the Elko Lions Club.
