Processing Reserves

Course materials may be placed on reserve by submitting a GBC Reserve Form available at the Circulation Desk along with the reserve materials.  These materials are usually limited to required reading materials, videos, CDs and audio cassettes, models, slides, etcItems will automatically be taken off reserve and faculty-owned items returned to the instructor at the end of each semester, unless otherwise specified.

Loan Periods

Reserve material loan periods are set by the instructor, for 2 hour in library use only,
1 day, 3 days or 7 days. These time periods are determined by the faculty member and should take into consideration class size, expected demand and the protection of the instructor's personal material(s).  The instructor can change these directions if needed and should come to the library to sign off on changes on the Reserve Form.

Reserve Circulation

Reserve materials may only be checked out with a current library card.

Reserve Class Listings

Reserve materials are listed on the online catalog and may be searched by the class, i.e. Psychology 307, or the instructor's last name or the title of the journal, title or author of the book, or title of the video.

To ensure that students will be able to identify the reading, please cite chapters of books, books, and photocopies in the same way on the course syllabus and on your Reserve Form. It will also help us if we have a copy of the syllabus.

Photocopies for Reserve

Photocopies of materials may be placed on reserve if they conform to the U.S. Copyright Law. Conformance to the law requires that a release form be signed by the instructor requesting the photocopy be placed on reserve. The release form is on the back of the Reserve Form. The photocopy may only be placed on reserve for one semester, unless permission for further use is granted by the copyright holder.

Processing Reserves

Materials are placed on reserve in the order they are received. We make every effort to have material available on time. Materials should be submitted at least one day prior to the class's need for the material.

In order that materials circulate using the online catalog, all items, including personal copies, have bar codes affixed to them.  Additionally, security tags will be added to high-risk items.
