How
Rent Control Drives out Affordable Housing By William Tucker |
(5
pages, 1997) |
|
By George Reisman |
This
link takes the reader to Reisman’s massive (1100+ pages) treatise on
economics. His discussion of price controls in general – which are well worth
reading – begins in chapter 7 which starts on page 219. His application of the
general principles of price controls specifically to rent controls begins on
page 249, and goes for about 5 pages. Reisman’s discussion of rent controls
is one of the most comprehensive around. One of the interesting insights is
the idea that rent controls actually increase the price of housing
generally. |

Rent
Control: An Economic Abomination By Walter Block |
