Project Gutenberg

The granddaddy of all eBook pages, Project Gutenberg has volunteers adding pre-1923 books (novels, plays, poetry, works of nonfiction) to its collection continually.

Topical organization. Some of the links do go to online books, but some go to excerpts, web-based tutorials or other pages based on books, and some links go to marketing sites. This is a large site that's worth exploring if you pay attention to what is freely available and what is not.
