Undergraduate Research Scholarship Opportunities

Undergraduate Research Scholarship Opportunities graphic.Undergraduates enrolled in Nevada System of Higher Education institutions are eligible for the following research opportunities.

  • Undergraduate Research Opportunity Program (UROP) Summer 2019 Scholarships
    Eligibility: Undergraduate students enrolled full time (1-3 credits for summer) at any NSHE institution during the time they are conducting their research. Scholar must have a NSHE faculty mentor to supervise their research project. Past recipients of a NSF-EPSCoR undergraduate research scholarship under the current NEXUS award are not eligible to apply.
    Students working in areas of science, technology, engineering or math (STEM), except for medical sciences, are eligible. Fields related to solar energy, water and/or environmental research are of special interest. Students with research tied to medical sciences are encouraged to apply for the National Institutes of Health IDeA Network for Biomedical Research Excellence (NIH INBRE).     Funding: $4,000 for students
    Research Period: June 1 through August 9, 2019
    Application Deadline: Monday, March 4, 2019
  • THE NEVADA NASA SPACE GRANT CONSORTIUM (NVSGC) UNDERGRADUATE SCHOLARSHIP
    Eligibility: Nevada System of Higher Education (NSHE) students who are U.S. citizens and full-time undergraduate students enrolled in a NASA-related STEM program will be considered for either a fully immersed 2019 summer research program or the full academic year (Fall 2019 and Spring 2020 semesters) research program. Please note that when submitting an application, the applicant must indicate whether a summer or academic year scholarship period is preferred. All participating students must be supervised by at least one NSHE faculty mentor; and maintain full-time enrollment status at their institution(s) throughout the scholarship period. You must be deemed eligible to receive financial aid by your home institution in order to receive the scholarship.
    Scholarship Amount: $3,000 will be competitively awarded (based on a statewide review) for either a 10-week period during the summer of 2019 or the 2019-2020 school year.
    Award Period: Summer 2019 or Fall 2019 through Spring 2020 semesters
    Application Deadline: Monday, March 11, 2019, 5pm PT
