History of the White Pine Mining District Presentation

Fred Frampton, M.A., Osher Lifelong Learning Institute (OLLI) member presents History of the White Pine Mining District Tuesday, December 10 from 10 until 11:30 AM, in the Great Basin College Community Outreach Center Conference Room, 1025 Chilton Circle. This lecture is streamed live from OLLI at the University of Nevada, Reno and is free to GBC community members!

The Rush to White Pine has been described as the shortest-lived, most intensive mining boom in North American history. Mines and communities in White Pine such as Hamilton, Treasure City and Shermantown will be highlighted. A half-hour segment of the KNPB PBS series Wild Nevada on the White Pine Mining District will complete the lecture.
