Fridays just got even better!

Each month, GBC welcomes students ages 6th grade and up to the Elko campus for CTE FRIDAYS! and some very fun and easy skills-building activities.

GBC is excited to EDUCATE, EMPOWER, AND INSPIRE students as they connect with higher education and future career pathways.

Special thanks to the Nevada First-Gen Network for funding CTE Fridays!

Projects

Here is a list of our upcoming projects:

Project date: 3/8, 11:30-3 (LUNCH 11:30-12)
Project name: "The Effects of Cigarette Smoke and Alcohol on Tetrahymena"
Project description: This is to investigate how the human cell reacts to cigarette smoke and alcohol, by using a human stand-in single cell protozoan called Tetrahymena.
In this lab, participants will be examining the effects of cigarette smoke and alcohol extracts on the swimming behavior, speed, shape and other movements of a living tetrahymena. Based on their observations, they will be able to consider how likely these factors may affect ciliary activities in the human body and possible human health issues.
