Our History
Great Basin College was founded in 1967 to expand access to higher education in rural northeastern Nevada. Originally opened as Elko Community College with 367 students, GBC has grown into a regional and online institution serving learners across Nevada and beyond. In 2017, GBC celebrated 50 years of service, marking decades of educational impact and community partnership.
