Adding and Dropping Courses

Adding Courses

You may add courses during the first week of the semester by logging into the MyGBC Self-Service Center. Adding courses after the first week (or, for short courses, after the first class) requires the submission of an Add/Drop Form*, signed by the instructor, to the Admissions office or your local GBC Center.

Dropping Courses

You may drop a course online at the MyGBC Self-Service Center (detailed instructions are here), or in person at the Admissions and Records Office or at your local center. You should first discuss your decision with your advisor and, if you are receiving financial aid, with the Student Financial Services Office. If you do not formally withdraw by the Drop Deadline, your instructor will automatically assign you a grade of "F."

The last day to drop for regular semester courses is the Monday of the tenth week of the semester. One-day classes must be dropped no later than the day before the course occurs. For all other non-regular semester courses, and for summer courses, the last day to drop is before 60% of the course has elapsed.

The official course drop deadline is subject to change per Nevada System of Higher Education Board of Regents' Policy. This change can occur any time prior to the beginning of the semester. Please see the most current Drop Deadline for regular semester courses at the GBC Calendar.

Financial aid recipients who drop courses should consult the Student Financial Services Office.
