Disability Resource Center

 

Great Basin College is committed to providing equal educational opportunities to qualified students with disabilities in accordance with state and federal laws and regulations, including the Americans with Disabilities Act of 1990 and Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973.

 

A qualified student must furnish current verification of disability. The Disability Resource Center, located in Berg Hall, will assist qualified students with disabilities in securing the appropriate and reasonable accommodations.

 

Great Basin College asks that each student requesting services submit documentation of the presence of a disability and documentation that supports the need for requested accommodations. However, it is our goal to ensure that the burden of providing documentation of a disability not be unnecessarily burdensome or unnecessarily discourage individuals with disabilities from establishing the need for a reasonable accommodation. The Director of Accessibility Services will assist qualified students with disabilities in securing the appropriate and reasonable accommodations, auxiliary aids, and services. Dual credit students (students enrolled concurrently in high school and GBC college courses) should note that IEPs and 504 accommodations are not transferred directly from the high school to the college classroom. High school students are advised to submit a current IEP and documentation or report from the school psychologist to the GBC Disability Resource Center along with a request/ intake for accommodations form. All documentation submitted by dual credit students will be evaluated based on the GBC reasonable accommodation policy.
