Veterans’ Standard Progress
Veterans’ Standard Progress
All students using VA education benefits will be required to maintain satisfactory
academic progress (SAP) requirements to continue to receive VA education benefits.
In order to meet SAP, students must maintain a minimum cumulative, term GPA of 2.0,
and successfully complete a minimum of 50% of the courses attempted. Failure to do
so will result in the student being placed on warning. While on warning, the student
may continue to receive VA education benefits without restrictions; however, the student
must maintain a 2.0 term GPA and complete 50% of all courses attempted. Failure to
meet the SAP requirements while on warning will result in suspension of the VA education
benefits. Students may appeal their suspension status by completing the veteran SAP
appeal form. The appeal should be submitted to the SCO no later than two weeks before
the beginning of the semester and will be reviewed by an appeals committee. Upon approval,
the student will be placed on probation and will be required to meet with an advisor
periodically during the semester. Should the appeals committee deny the appeal request,
students may continue to take classes at GBC at their own expense. Once they reach
a 2.0 cumulative GPA on their own, they will again qualify for VA education benefits.
