Program Overview

The Manufacturing Machining Technology Certificate of Achievement program prepares students with foundational, job-ready skills for a fast-paced, multifaceted manufacturing industry. Students gain hands-on training in manual machine tool operations and introductory to advanced Computer Numerical Control (CNC) machining practices.

Coursework emphasizes CNC turning and machining centers; setup and operation of CNC mills and lathes; and basic machine computer programming. Upon completion of the certificate, students are prepared to pursue National Institute for Metalworking Skills (NIMS) credentials and qualify for entry-level positions in industries such as mining, agriculture, gaming, manufacturing, welding and fabrication, robotics, and aerospace.

Student Learning Outcomes

Graduates of the Certificate of Achievement in Manufacturing Machining Program will have the knowledge and skills to:

  • work safely in an industrial setting.
  • produce precision products according to technical drawings within specifications for manual machining.
  • produce precision products according to technical drawings within specifications for CNC machining.
  • design and manufacture parts using machining software.
  • work effectively in the work place through various forms of communication.
