Education BA Capstone Projects
Student Teacher Intern Action Research
The Action Research Project is the capstone project for the entire Teacher Education Program at Great Basin College (GBC). Action Research is designed to address intern questions about their practices in the classroom that lead to student success. The research is embedded within the ten InTASC standards, which are the national standards for teacher preparation programs. Each project has been a semester-long process of answering intern generated questions about professional practices in the classroom using standards of evidence from their data, both qualitative and quantitative. Focus is on the impact to the intern’s professional practice and how that in turn impacts student achievement or well-being. The quality of the projects is used as one facet to evaluate the teacher education program at GBC.
