We're excited that you are considering teaching for your career! Great Basin College of the Nevada System of Higher Education (NSHE) offers affordable, online courses that will place you on the fast track to teacher licensure for the state of Nevada.

Fast Track

Depending on the option you choose, students can expect to finish their program of study within 2 to 4 years. See “Your Career Options” below.

Affordable

Great Basin College offers program courses that are some of the most affordable in the state of Nevada.

In-state per credit cost:

  • $112.75 per credit for lower-division courses (course numbers of 299 and below).
  • $185.00 per credit for upper-division courses (course numbers of 300 or above).

Financial Aid and Scholarships, such as the Teach Nevada Scholarship, are available.

Convenient Online Courses

All program courses have online, hybrid, or live options that you can select from when you enroll. Courses can be accessed through the WebCampus (Canvas) platform from the comfort of your home.

Your Career Options

The following are the programs available in Teacher Education:

Alternative Route to Licensure Certificate (2 to 3-year program)

If you already possess a bachelor’s degree you can obtain a NV teaching license and be fully salaried in the following areas:

  • Elementary Education
  • Early Childhood Education
  • Secondary Education: Art, Biology, English, Foreign Language (French, German, or Spanish) Mathematics, Music, Physical Education, Physical Science, or Social Science.
  • Special Education

Bachelor of Arts Degrees (3 to 4-year program)

  • Elementary Education with the English Language Acquisition and Development (ELAD) endorsement.
  • Early Childhood Education, non-licensure.
  • Secondary Education with the ELAD endorsement and the following endorsements: Biology, Business, English, Mathematics, Social Science, or Special Education.
