American Heart Association Courses at GBC!
Great Basin College offers several American Heart Association courses. These courses are offered in the HeartCode format. You will be required to complete online modules prior to attending the hands-on classroom portion. Below you will find course descriptions, upcoming class dates, instructions for payment, and links to the required online modules.
Basic Life Support (BLS)
The American Heart Association HeartCode BLS course is designed for healthcare professionals and other personnel who need to know how to perform CPR and other basic cardiovascular life support skills on adults and infants in a wide variety of in-facility and prehospital settings. Additional skills include the use of the AED, effective ventilations using a barrier device, and relief of choking.
Students are required to complete the "HeartCode BLS" online modules prior to attending the hands-on training session. The online module can be purchased at: https://shopcpr.heart.org/heartcode-bls.
How to Sign Up
To sign up, please send an email to hsbh@gbcnv.edu and include a current phone number, which campus and class date you are interested in signing up for. One of our HSBH department admins will reach out to you with Registration and Class details and will add you to the sign up list. You will only be added to the class roster once you register for the class.
Cost
- Basic Life Support (BLS): $55
Class Fee is due no later than 7 days before scheduled class date in order to reserve
your spot in the class. No refunds
are available. If payment is not received by the noted deadline on Class letter, you
will not be added to class roster. The
details below are in regards for payment of the hands-on portion.
All attendees are required to take the “online” portion before scheduled class date.
This is the American Heart Association’s official website https://elearning.heart.org and is the only online certificate that will
be accepted. You will pay for the online portion through the website mentioned. In
order to attend the class, you must
bring the printed certificate to Great Basin College (GBC) to complete the “hands-on”
portion.
Hint: Do not complete the modules more than 60 days before the skills check off date. They expire after 60 days.
