Liberal Arts and Sciences

The Arts and Sciences division works in collaboration with programs across Great Basin College to provide the academic foundation that supports all degree and certificate pathways. Through coursework in the humanities, social sciences, natural sciences, and mathematics, students develop critical thinking, communication, and analytical skills essential for academic success, career readiness, and informed citizenship.

Programs within Arts and Sciences support both transfer pathways and workforce-oriented degrees, offering students the opportunity to explore disciplines, build adaptable skill sets, and prepare for continued study or immediate employment. Faculty emphasize inquiry, problem-solving, and real-world application, helping students engage complex ideas and communicate effectively across a range of contexts.

Whether completing general education requirements or pursuing a focused program of study, students in Arts and Sciences gain the intellectual tools needed to navigate an evolving world.
