English

Great Basin College offers two degrees in English: The Associate of Arts in English and the B.A. in English.  Both degrees reflect the wide range of subjects covered by the discipline, including literary studies, creative writing, professional writing and rhetoric.  The curriculum emphasizes critical thinking, writing skills, textual interpretation and historical/cultural study.  Students are afforded a choice of electives in both degrees to tailor their studies to their personal goals.

The A.A. in English is an entry point to various careers that value communication and critical thinking, as well as a transfer degree to various Baccalaureate degrees, including the B.A in English.  Students with an A.A. in English can seamlessly transfer to the B.A. in English as can students with a variety of other associate degrees, as the B.A. is designed for easy transfer.  Upon completion of the B.A. in English, our students have successfully entered a variety of fields and graduate programs.

Students seeking an academic degree with professional value who enjoy writing, reading and critical thinking are always welcome.  If you think English might be your future, we would like to hear from you.
